Description
The Gomtaro pruning saw is an essential piece of your equipment and a user’s first choice for formative pruning during the early years of a tree’s growth. The straight blade gives an even cleaner and more precise cut than a curved blade. The smooth tree cut that this pull saw leaves behind will easily be overgrown. The tree will be grateful!
A straight blade is easier to handle in tight spaces and close to the ground. The Gomtaro is recommended among skilled arborists when removing the crown of a tree. For making a felling cut, the straight blade helps you to manipulate hinge wood while maintaining a straight back cut. If you use Silky for the first time, then be aware of this razor-sharp saw!
The physical exercise of tree climbing demands a saw that eases the pruning. Rightly so, professionals choose Silky as their hand saw. Sawing with the Gomtaro requires a minimum effort and goes so smoothly that firing up a chainsaw is unnecessary. Moreover, you now have a compact replacement at hand for when a chainsaw is not available or for when you can only use one hand. The rubber casted handle lays comfortably in your hand and absorbs vibrations. You will realize that your lower arm and the saw are perfectly balanced out.
While climbing you will not always move in the most comfortable positions. Even then, the Gomtaro will not let you down. The scabbard is designed in such a way so that it will hold the saw in all positions, but when needed you can pull the saw out with just one hand. Complete your Gomtaro with the available leg straps and you will always have the saw at arm’s length.
The Gomtaro with large teeth is suited for fresh wood and available in six blade lengths: 180 – 210 – 240 – 270 – 300 and 330 mm. The fine teeth is suited for seasoned wood and available in four blade lengths: 240 – 270 – 300 and 330 mm. Blades with similar lengths are interchangeable, creating one multipurpose saw.
All saws from the Gomtaro series come with a lightweight, polypropylene scabbard with detachable belt holder. The scabbard is incorporated with two rollers to prevent the sharp teeth damaging the case. The bottom part is equipped with a hole that drains water and saw dust.
Technical Specifications
- Teeth: 8 teeth per 30 mm
- Kerf: 1.4 mm
The blade must be kept clean to maintain its efficiency. Resin dissolves in olive oil, which is an effective and environmental friendly way to maintain the blade with. More aggressive liquids can damage the rubber material of the handle.
When not using the saw, make sure it is dry at all times. Store the saw in its scabbard in a dry place.

Silky Saws Care Guide
- Silky saws are designed to cut on the pull stroke. The thin blades will not bow because they are under tension while being pulled across the surface to be cut. If saw ever becomes caught in a branch squeeze. DO NOT PUSH HARD and NEVER WRENCH THE HANDLE. These actions may damage the blade. Always lift the weight off the blade to release the saw.
- Silky’s precision engineering results in a fine kerf, very little force is needed to saw. So do not use muscle to speed up your sawing. LET THE SAW DO THE WORK for you while you pull it across the wood.
- Impulse hardened blades cannot be re-sharpened by a hand file.
- Keep your blades clean by using solvent. Keep the solvent away from the handle.
- When not in use, store the saw in a protective sheath and away from moisture.
- Silky is not responsible for any damage resulting from the misuse of Silky saws.
